Hi guys. I will soon(within the next month or so) be retailing/distributing the new X-series Naiant microphones(X-Q, X-S and X-T) in the UK. I'm just wondering what kind of market will be open to me? Would you get in touch if you would be interested?

Cheers

What kinda mark-up would there be? I don't think I paid too much by way of import duty on my MS2s, so they'd have to be going for quite close to the Jon O Neal price.

Not sure what markup yet. But I'll be offering clip and windshields with them, and it shouldn't be more than buying(with accessories) from Jon, without the shipping costs from US and as long a wait...

Right I'll try to work out roughly what i'd charge:

An X-Q with clip and windshield comes to $41(around £21), I'd probably charge the same.

X-S with universal mount and cable comes to $79(£40). I'll make the mount and cable myself, so it'll be a lot cheaper. Maybe £25

X-T with clip and windshield comes to $64(£33). I'll probably charge the same.

MSH2 with clip and windshield comes to $38(£20). Again I'll probably charge the same.

Each mic will come with similar accessories to the ones from naiant, and i wouldn't sell without. Saves everyone trying to find their own anyway.

To start I won't be buying in huge bulk, this is just a tester, so stocks might run out fast(I'm hoping).

Shipping costs should be cheaper(and times a lot quicker) from UK to UK than US to UK.

I've got my naiant mics for the moment but if I was buying, I'd buy from UK if the price was the same to do away with the pain with customs holding stuff til duty's paid etc (about 25% in ireland for US purchases).. If you are going this route I'd get naiant.com to link to you for european purchases if you're dealing with them directly.

the main problem will be getting the business your direction. i.e who will know they can buy in the UK?

Good luck with it!

Yeah that what i was going to ask Jon to link to my eBay store.

I will also be sending some mics off to Soundonsound for review, so hopefully that will spark some interest.

I've not really looked into the duty charges. If i get charged duty, i will obviously have to pass that cost on to the customers, but at least the customers won't have to deal with it.

Ok duty charges come to around £4 per mic, so my prices would probably be:
X-Q(with accessories) - £25
X-S (w/acc.) - £29
X-T (w/acc.) - £37
MSH2 (w/acc.) - £24
I'll also stock the X-PC(w/acc.) - £25
+ P&P, and they'd probably arrive within a couple of days, without duty hassle etc.

Noone interested?

May i remind you, that there will be shipping costs, duty and VAT on top of the prices from Jon. I'm sure you realised. There will be P&P on top of mine also, but i doubt it will be as much.

What about the former antipodean colonies?
Nice to see you doing this by the way - good product & should sell itself once folk know you're distributing.
If we had signatures back that'd be a +++ for your advertising.

Sorry, but what are former antipodean colonies? Australia, New Zealand etc? I'd suggest setting up your own if you interested in distributing there.

Yeah signatures would be good. Never even thought of that. Thanks for the idea.

I'm not making a huge profit, it's mostly that i want these mics for myself, and instead of buying a couple, i'd rather save on shipping by buying in bulk and maybe even try and make enough to pay for my mics :D. If there is an interest i will carry on doing it and encorporate it, along with acoustics, instruments and musical equipment into the retail side of my business.

Thanks for the response. I thought no one was interested for a while. :o

I had totally forgotten about this thread, my bad! Lemme crunch numbers and get back to you. Although one thing to consider right away is the fact that Jon will repalce stuff right off the bat if a fault develops. There's a good deal of peace of mind when buying from him.

Jon will be offering the same service for the mics i sell as he would himself, i believe. I might, if i have them in stock, be able to replace faulty mics, saving time, shipping and duty. I might be able to work out a deal with Jon for this, that he sends me a replacement for that mic with my next bulk order, and if/when i save up enough faulty mics(which i highly doubt would happen) i would send them back, in bulk, for him to repair and sell on.

Remember to take into account that i have included the accessories in my price, so mostly clips and windshields(I also include a home made drum/horn mount[not tried making it yet though] with the X-S), at the same price as Jon would sell them or cheaper(although i would have to include the duty(£4/mic) which you'd pay buying from him anyway). I suspect shipping for me would be around £2 or so, i don't yet know what shipping is for Jon(I remember something about $20... don't quote me on that though).

I'm not undercutting Jon or anything, don't worry about that, 'cause he will be getting a large bulk order from me.
