i am thinking of returning my Yamaha mw10 usb mixer and getting probably a Nady powered mixer or maybe even a behringer powered mixer? The yamaha sound quality is great, it just didnt do what i thought it would as far as a computer recording interface, so i will just get a mixer for live playing. i want some something that can power some pa speakers for a small garage set up. Yay or Nay??? can somebody give the pros and cons of this idea? i'm kinda on a budget too, thats why i am going with Nady or Behringer.

The Yamaha USB mixer is a whole different animal than a Nady or Behringer powered mixer. If you're looking for something to do double duty both for live and recording you'd have to spend much more than you probably have to get even passable sound on both fronts.

My advice is to keep the Yamaha and shop around for a $200 used powered mixer for live use. In 6 months when you're happily using both you probably won't remember the stretching of funds, and it will make it much easier if you don't have to rip your recording setup apart every time you have a show.

i have a fostex mr8 recorder which allows me to transfer wave files to my pc for much more greater editing options. Thats why i am thinking of exchanging my yamaha usb mixer. Seems like some behringer powered mixers got good reviews on musiciansfriend.com, like the pmh2000

That was just my advice based on the info you provided.

Take it or don't.

You didn't tell me you had an HD recorder with a computer interface. If I had know that my advice would have been totally different.
