Hi,

I think I've read all the threads regarding the Nady and Apex tube mics here and on other forums. I want to attempt to remove the CF from my mic, but want clarification before I do.
A couple of explanations were given by Marik and Gus, both could mean the same thing, but I can't tell, since my knowledge of tube electronics is limted:
To make the circuit looking more like C24 is quite easy:
Remove R8
Cut traces from tube pins 6,7,8 and short them together
Connect C8 to juncion of pin 1 and R2
For the transformer use a high quality 1:8-1:10 Lundahl or Cinemag (depending on your taste).
With a 10:1 or more removing the CF works fine. don't wire that fil half and ground the plate grid and cathode removing the cathode resistor. Connect the plate of the 1st half of the tube to the transformer with a good cap, 1uf poly what ever at 250V

What is meant by "cutting the traces" to the pins. There are wires going to the pins of the 1050. Do I remove the wires?
Also, how do you ground the plate grid and cathode?

A very idiot proof explanation would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Craig

Yes, cutting the traces would be the same as removing the wires. Tie the pins for the second plate, grid, and cathode together with a wire and solder them to a ground point somewhere on the circuit board.
