sure is a cheap price for a condensor. any unbiased comments ?
anyone got one ??
thanks.......

ive seen the Nady TCM5000 (i think that was the model) used by a really repected audio engineer before. Great sound for violin orchestra.

Dont have any more experience :(

I bought a 950 several years ago when I first started getting mics. It was a decent budget mic, but I traded it in for the multipattern SCM 1000 model. I own and use better mics now, but I still keep it around as a utility mic. Both are decent budget mics for someone getting started. However, given more tried and true budget mics, your friend should skip this phase and get something a bit better--perhaps a Studio Projects B1 or MXL V67 or a high quality dynamic (sm 57, sennheiser md 421, etc).

Either way the Nady SCM series can at least be a utility condenser that you can use on high "danger" sources (like drums--toms) without fear of getting the mic beat up.

thanks rev, already suggested the studio projects. and v67. he just wanted something utilitarian.
