Nady PRA-8 Mic Preamp

I need something to be able to use as a front end for my Delta 1010lt. I'm looking to run mics for drums and guitar cabs through this Nady PRA-8 Mic Preamp. Does anybody know if this thing will give me a hot enough signal without a ton of noise? It has phantom power which I'd probably need for overheads. Just want to know if anyone has used one of these things before. If it is a total piece of crap, I'll probably look into a budget mixer that has channel inserts.

I got one just to have it modded. It is in fact identical to the sm pro pr8, which is the one that black lion will gut for just under $300. I only tested it once before I sent it off. Side by side with my art mpa the noise was considerably more and the overall sound noticably less brilliant. I wouldn't chose it if you were going to use dynamic mics a lot as noise would definately be a problem for voice or acoustic instruments. I havent gotten it back yet so I cant tell you if buying it and modding it is a good route.
