Anyone own any Nady mics?
There are some pretty good deals going down on MF (no I don't work there!) for a condenser and tube Nady mic.
Now, I know for 169$ I shouldn't expect much, but, has anyone had any experience?

i havent ever used them, but whenever you read reviews for them, they usually talk about how terrible they are and how they break within a week, unless, of course, they come broken. If your budget concerned (which i assume you are seeing as yer looking at nady mics) there are alot of better alternatives for around the same price. Studio Projects and the marshell mics are usually talked about pretty highly)

I have a Nady SCM900, and I would not recommend it. It is by far my least favorite mic. I rarely use it.

Hey man,

I own the 5 piece without the condensers, and it worked pretty well for a gigging band on a budget. We recorded with em too, and they pick up pretty well but aren't as clear as a good 'ol 57. I've been thinking about selling mine for an insanely low price since I have Shures now. If you're interested man, lemme know. I've never had problems with them at all concerning sound and construction.

i have some Nady SP5's (aka the bottom of the microphone barrel). they generally produce a scratchy sound with a trebly kind of sound coloring. but i lo-fi punk and rock kind of stuff, so they rock for me. i'm not too picky. i tried to record some acoustic stuff, and all the flaws are pretty evident. whatever...3 for $20 isn't too bad. i'm basically expecting them to implode any day now. this has nothing to do with consensers or tube mics...oh well.

Mixed opinions. I have a DM-90 (bass drum mic), a pair of CM-90 condensers, and a ribbon (RSM-2). Of those, I like the ribbon a lot. The CM-90s are doing a decent job for drum overheads. I haven't used them for anything else. I'm not particularly impressed with the DM-90, and I'll probably end up buying a Beta 52 or something one of these days....

The first ribbon had a washer bouncing around inside it when I got it, though, so I can certainly vouch for quality control issues. Generally, from what I've seen so far, if it works, it works, though, so the key is that if it doesn't work, send it back until it does. :D
