NAB vs. IEC

I'm getting ready to buy a cal tape for my BR-20T...

I'm looking at the MRL 21J205 multi-frequency tape. Or maybe this one...

Since the BR-20T has a selectable EQ circuit (NAB or IEC), which cal tape should I get?? The one for the IEC curve, or the one for NAB curve?

I guess the question is really how do the two curves differ in operation? I want to get the tape to cal the deck to the EQ standard that makes the most sense for me, but I don't know how to make that determination...

Do you have a NAB MRL in 1/4"

I'm assuming that you do not have a 1/4" MRL of any type.

The BR-20 can be calibrated using a NAB or IEC MRL tape. Just flick the switch to the right EQ for the tape.

If I recall correctly the BR-20 does not have independent adjustments for IEC or NAB EQ inside. Cal to one and the other is also in cal by design.

Additionally, you can use a NAB tape to adjust a IEC machine if you apply corrections and visa versa.

Do you have any other 1/4" machines that need calibration? If they need NAB then getting a NAB MRL makes sense. If Not then getting an IEC MRL makes more sense to me.

In any case I do have a (sticky but baked) 1/4" NAB MRL that you can borrow. It is a 200 nW/M tape but that is adjustable too.

Ethan, right...no 1/4" cal tape. I'm going with the IEC tape...now to find one with the right frequencies at the right price!

Need 1/4" tape too...
