I was a Cakewalk guy from DOS midi days through vers.8 untill I downloaded n-track.I registered the program after about a half hour.Try it and see if you like it too.

n-Track is great because of its price. You really can't beat it...nothing comes even remotely close.
I've been using n-Track for about a year now and it seldom lets me down. It runs best on NT4 or Win2000, and can really run like crap on 95/98. Be warned. Play with the demo for a good while and ask questions on the board over at fasoft.com.
I got a chance to play around with Sonic Foundry's Vegas recently and oooooooooooooooh man it's so much nicer than n-Track. Yeah they have similar features but Vegas is just so much nicer to use. BUT, there's a 500 dollar price difference!
n-Track is 35 bucks. If you're new to recording, start with n-Track. There's nothing better for the price.

Yes its good.
I use it. Bought it a year ago and still getting
free updates. I'm a casual user and like it.
See my post in the sound card forum regarding my
machine. Low end machine doing as many stereo 44 16 bit
tracks as I want... about 6 is all I've tried.
I recommend it if you are on a budget or just
can't justify spending a lot to give this PC recording
a try. I haven't use a lot of other packages, but
I can say it does what I want and its not particularly
buggy. So its a good value.
