hey,
sorry for another post of similar nature to my last one. i'm new to mini-discs.
so, i'm looking to buy one of these two types of players of ebay and am interested in hearing people's opinions on them. i'm planning on mainly using this for field recordings and recording live music. which would people recommend? what are the benefits and negative aspects of each? for some reason the mx-r900 seems to sell for less on ebay. i assumed that this was the newer of the two models and can't figure out why it is cheaper.

thanks,
allan

Both of these models are 3 generations old. The 700 was replaced by the 707 and then the 710 (current model).

The 900 is a better machine on paper than the 700, I'm surprised it is selling for less.

Actually for field and live music recording I would buy a Sharp, as they have a better interface for setting levels than the Sonys and better sounding mike preamps. Look for a DR7 or MT877.
