Hello,
I'm about to buy a Mytek 192 ADC. I own a Saffire Pro 24 DSP that has a S/PDIF in. So I wonder whether the Mytek could be connected to the Saffire without latency issues.

How do you acutally connect your Mytek 192?

Cheers,

I think you might have S/PDIF (RCA-type connector) confused with the coaxial (BNC) connectors used for clocking.

Indeed, the Mytek has S/PDIF so you can connect it directly to your Saffire. Latency will not be affected in fact it will improve when using it at higher sample rates like 96kHz. Latency decreases when sample rate increases.

What I would do, however, is clock the entire system off the Mytek either by setting the Saffire to slave to the incoming S/PDIF signal or by connecting BNC cables to the units. Remember the 75ohm termination, though, or you might have issues!

One question. Why the 192? The 96 is a bit cheaper but is the same quality. Do you find yourself going as high as 192 often? Consider this article:

Hope that helps.

Cheers :)
