My windows won't stay put (HS 2004 XL)

I installed HS 2004 XL today, but there's this annoying little problem I can't figure out. In the Track View, when I right click in a track's fx field and apply a real time effect, the effect window opens half way out of the screen and then my main Track View window either gets minimized or just resized. It's really annoying because every time I open an effect window I have to drag it to the middle of the screen and then re-maximize my Track View window. If I don't maximize the Track View window but insead resize it as large as I can, then the window stays put when I open an effect (although the effect window still opens half way out of view most of the time). But I'd like to have the Track View maximized to save space on my screen. I've tried everything I can think of and can't figure this out. I hope all this makes sense. Any Ideas?

figured it out

Just in case anyone else has this problem, I finally figured out it is a glitch that can be fixed by downloading the HS 2004 patch from cakewalk.com. I guess there's some other issues addressed by the patch as well.
