slave to the grind
It's always been this way. It's something that has always sort of bothered me about this amp, but it doesn't really effect the sound at all. The clean channel is ridiculously louder than the dirty channel. The overdrive channel will also gradually get louder, and the clean channel will all of a sudden jump up when turning the knob. Anybody else with a vintage club have this issue? I love this amp.

As a long time repair tech i would say one of 2 things. Broken solder joints on the pots and jacks or dirty jacks. Try cleaning all the jacks on the unit with deoxit. It is a common crate problem

Thanks +1. Why does this happen? Just age, or crappy joints in the first place? I really like this amp, it's one of the only crates that sounds good.

It is the nature of wave soldering. i have repaired many crate, marshall, peavey, ect because of it
