I made this for a friend as he wanted a backing track for the song lower than the original, i hate the song which doesnt help but any thoughts on the sounds and what to do to improve would be good, im not sure about the strings, would like something a bit better sounding but cant think of what... im using logic pro 9 as well if that helps

my second take of making a track..

its 1 directions - little things

i posted it in the midi forum as well but 70 views and no replies.. i just wanna hear what u think good or bad :)

i realise the original was just a guitar but midi guitar sounds arent the best.. or the ones i have on logic arent.. dont get me wrong there not bad but not a proper guitar.. so i did a piano mainly..

This should be posted in the MP3 clinic and I'll move it over there for you.

I'll give it a listen later tonight.

Once there is a voice it might not be so noticeable but for me the piano doesn't sound good enough to carry the track. Midi is tough to compare to a real instrument but maybe some octave overdubs in some higher ranges may add a bit of life into it. Strings are okay, didn't even really hear them until the higher notes they played which I thought sounded better than the lower notes.

The Piano needs more treble and the strings need to either need to get in or stay out. Once the string come in keep them in there. The track seems kind of monotonous, so I'd try to do a slow build with the song. Start with the piano and then keep adding instruments and have them play something besides just holding a chord.

It's hard to judge a mix without the vocal, if it's supposed to have a vocal.

As a backing track it's OK, but IMO, it's always out of context when you can't hear how the singing sits within the backing tracks. With one kind of voice it might be fine as-is, and with another style of voice it may not work at all.

the song is very monotamous.. if im honest i dont like it that much which does help.. thanks for the tips ill add different bits like suggested.. like the octave overdubs idea and might raise the strings up a bit and keep them in..

Thanks for feedback guys :)
