Ok so the place where i work is letting me use an abandoned room for my recording purposes... its a pretty square room with a smaller room inside of it that shares 2 walls with the outer room.. the two walls that it doesnt share both have a window on them and one has a door, you can see a pretty crappy schematic type drawing i made of it below. the two walls that both rooms share are solid concrete (i think this is good for keeping sound out) I want to treat it a little to make it good for recording. I am a n00b bout this, I assume I need to put bass traps in the corners of the inner room (where i will do the recording) but im afraid of the glass, since it rattles a lot, ill probably have to caulk it or something.

i basically have no cash to spend on this but if you guys could give me some tips on some of the cheap things that work, like maybe heavy drapes or something, how could make this room good for recording some metal tracks. thanks everyone!

If i had that space, and had some money. This is what i'd do(attached pic). Build another small room so you have 2 booths. If enough money build a room inside a room in both of them. If not just leave them and they'll isolate more than having all in the same room. Make 4-6" rigid fiberglass bass traps for 2 of the corners in each room(can't do other corners because of doors and windows). Make 2 broadband absorbers(same as bass traps) for first reflection points n control room. And build a mega bass trap like shown, lol. If I had no money to spend at all, i'd use the small room as the control room, and the rest of the room as tracking. Emm, well the best thing to do is build bass traps. Search around this forum on how to build. If you've got no money at all and are going to try and make-do with drapes etc. then they'll only affect the hi frequencies and with only make things worse, so just leave it as it is.
