Trailing Behind Again
I drew up a quick plan for my studio, and before I get much further along, I want to post it here for advice. I am not sure about placement for bass traps and things like that. Or what size they should be. It's going to have a 10-foot ceiling, and the rest of the dimensions are on the drawing. The double walls and such are not on there (they will be), but what do you think? Is it going to be big enough to start recording bands when I get that far along? Any input is welcomed, even flaming! ;)
Edit: I just looked at the attachment, and it's hard to read, so here are the dimensions I came up with: Office is 10x16, Control Booth is 16x28, the Live Room is 35x38, and the vocal iso booth is 4.6x4.6 (feet). Let me know what changes I should make to this studio. I am serious, so I don't want to "piss up a rope" and waste time and money (neither of which I can afford to do). I already priced materials for the initial structure, and I am reading all I can about treatments and such. Thanks in advance for any ass kicking this incurs. Thank you sir, may I have another :D ?

Slanty walls! Slanty walls! Why doesn't anybody like slanty walls?

Here's a sketch, this isn't very good, but it gives you some ideas. Look around the web, there are some good acoustically designed floorplans out there.

Oh I should add you've got a lot of space, you should be able to make this into an excellent studio for recording bands.

Thanks for the input. I knew about the slanty room thing. I just wasn't sure about how to go about it. I wish I could get into a professional studio in Studio City in Hollyweird, but that's hard since I am in Japan. I'l like to see how they do room treatments and such. Is the vocal booth the right size in my simple drawing?

There's a little shack currently under construction down in Texas that you may want to take a look at for ideas. It's a bit smaller than your space, but the concepts for the design are there for what you appear to be looking for. Here's the link:

(Sorry Michael, but I just couldn't help myself.....)

toot away! I have loads of ideas now. Looks like your studio is going to be great! I like the bathroom idea. I wasn't going to put one in, but then I realized that I didn't want strangers in my house using mine...... :o
