The idea was pretty straight forward but its execution was long, exacting and tireing.

Just wanted to share with you guys the project that I've worked on for weeks. It's more or less a brick by brick picture showcase of how I packaged my TEAC A-3440.

Truthfully, any deck can be packaged in a similar way so it's not exclusively a 3440 packaging. It can be customized for whatever you wanna ship.

Note that even though my recorders are going on a wooden pallet, I wanted to do this packing right.

If you have any questions about what I used and how, please post them. I will post other packing picts of my last "documented" machine, the TASCAM 388, soon.

Note: The 3440 is suspended 2" from the bottom, with custom made polyethylene foam blocks, as not to crush any stuff sticking at the back of the unit. (There is actually more than 4 inches of inner packing between the recorder and box, which is a double walled FOL type). I also took off the feet, from both the front and back and jumpers. The rest is pretty self explanatory.

If this helps any of you then my work is done. ;)

Many picts to follow, so please be patient:

Wow, Daniel, this is an excellent guidline for me, thanks man, I just sold one of my Otaris, and need a VERY good and reliable packaging plan, since it weighs 78 pounds. Guess how much it went for?! $995! I have to pay for shipping though, and ebay and pp fees, but man, thats a sweet ammount. I listed it LAST NIGHT and someone bought it this morning. I was in my school library "researching" :D and checked my mail, and I was completely blown away!
