Hi all,
I’m sharing a two-part project called "Boumeur," a collection of demos and arrangements that have been sitting in the dark since 2014. These tracks were born from a collaboration between myself (writing/arranging) and vocalists Alexandre Laderoute and Aurélie. After a decade of dust, I’ve finally decided to resurrect them.
Boumeur I is the "polished" side of the coin, Indie rock meets Orchestral pop, heavily indebted to that 60s-70s cinematic nostalgia. It’s the essence of what we were trying to achieve back then.
Boumeur II, however, is the "dusty attic." These are the songs that were perhaps a bit too shy or too stubborn for the first volume. The arrangements are raw, the production is less settled, and frankly, it’s a bit of a shambles, but I’ve grown to prefer that fragile, "falling apart" charm.
I’m posting these because I’m curious to hear what other musicians make of the "unfinished" nature of Volume II versus the more structured Volume I. I'm particularly interested in your thoughts on the orchestral layering and the vocal takes—some of which were kept despite being "too raw" for the final cut.
Critique it, pull it apart, or just tell me if the 70s vibe actually hits the mark or if I was just hallucinating.
Cheers,
Michel
