Got my new microphone, and this is the first track I have recorded with it, tell me what you think!

Did you record the elec guitar and main vocal on one track? - wondering why there's no panning. The main vocal could stand some volume automation. The harmony vocal is off pitch at times and too loud over the main vocal..

I think you could bring the electric up a bit, it seems quite a bit lower than the vocal and acoustic. I'd probably put/add some reverb or something on the vocal, it's pretty dry.

I'm a big fan of not hiding behind effects, if it sounds like shit, then I guess I'm just a shitty singer :D I turned the guitar parts up, thanks for the advice! I think it sounds better now..

Reverb doesn't have to be an effect. Most use reverb as a way to give the performance a more natural feel. If your room is dead, and your recording is dead, then the reverb (if used correctly) will give it a more natural presence. Don't confuse reverb saturation with good reverb use. The best use of reverb is when you don't realize it is there. It is that subtle and not intended to hide anything.

Yeah the vocal is well sung, it just seems unadorned. Works well with acoustic and bluegrass, that sort of thing but since you've got those nice electric swells a little processing on the vocal would help the vocal shine I think.

Ah okay, I don't know much about it. Guess I could fiddle around with it. I only have Audacity, but it has alot of settings for reverb..

That might be a problem (Audacity good software, not a good DAW). Reverb IMO is difficult to use at first. To your point, everyone soaks their vocals in it and sounds like poo.

Just making sure you don't let the misuse of reverb keep you from using it (and using it well) once you understand how to use it and enhance the performance.
