I just ordered me a brandnew Soundcraft M8. Does anyone around here have one if so give me your thoughts. I bought it for the pres and EQthe mixer is an added bonus.

I'm thinking about getting a Joemeek 3Q for a differant flavor. Would prefer to have a stereo unit but I can buy another 3Q down the raod

That's a great start, two different colors, lots of variation.

The Soundcraft M Series is a great all around mixer. Decent sound. Excellent price. The SPDIF out is limited though. Only 16 bit/44.1k.

Do you think the pres on the Soundcraft will give some nice recording into my HD24? I know mics are important. I just thought for under in the under 500.00 these pre would be as good as anything out there and I got 8 of them.

I looked at Focusrite and Presonus stuff in the $500.00 area. I can't see them any better than the Soundcraft M series pres.

The Soundcraft pres are not magic by any means. They are clean neutral and will work fine for Instruments and drums. You should consider having one channel of quality preamp maybe a Voicemaster Pro or above. I recommend this one all the time but its a really nice sounding unit for vocals.

For 8 channels of preamps the Soundcraft is a good choice.

The best part is that I got the Soundcraft M8 for only $425.00 brandnew.
