Here's one that sounds like a cross between Humble Pie, Captain Beyond, and Trouble. I was helping out a audio production student, and did a one-man-band thing using hotstepper drums...

I don't mind constructive criticism. This is the one song I've sung on that I actually don't totally hate my vocals, but some peeps have said the levels are all fucked up. I kinda like them buried how they area since my voice ain't all that. Any thoughts?

Enjoy!

Don't everybody talk at once. Guess I'll stop posting stuff here; kinda pointless.

GreenDank,
Yes, the vocals do need to come out a bit...and probably a little less verb. Otherwise the mix sounds pretty good.
Regarding the void of responses...things do get missed and the list of new/updated posts push other posts down fast. Don't get discouraged.

cool - thanks, david! if you're anything like me, no response is like the kiss of death compared to even negative comments. it's weird coming into a board as the new kid on the block - you never know what the vibe is...

I like the guitar sounds. The drums, especially the toms are unacceptably fake sounding. Triggers? I like your bass tone, as well.

Whoa - massive bell on your ride there

Nice guitar solo. All in all the drums are the most obvious candidate for some work.

You could pass the time waiting for a response by commenting on other people's mixes... they're all waiting too.

Cool tune GreenDank! The vocals need work far as how they sit in the mix.Your singing is not bad at all.I like it but the ground background vocal are a little to loud and could be panned to left or right of the main vocals. Kinda of sitting behind your main vocals. Good guitar tone! Very nice. The bass should be center with the main vocals. It sounds like it off center a little bit. The drums do have a midi sound to them. If your doing this without a drummer i would look into something like Drums on Demand or something in those lines.I use DOD and like them very much but they never can replace a real drummer.

Overall you have a very cool vibe working here.
Nice work!

Great comments - just what I needed, actually. Unfortunately, the drums were done by that dang free program Hot Stepper, which does use real drum sounds, but of course it's totally fake sounding. I'm going to experiment with ways to make the drums sound more realisitc. In the past, I've used Fruity Loops and the Boss DR-550 and got similar fake sounding results. I think if I amped it and recorded them with a mic, maybe piece by piece, that may work. What am I saying, I just need to get a drummer.

I have to agree 100% with Supercreep. Drums need work. Guitars sound great! Whoa, cool solo there! Amp modeling or the real McCoy? You have tl let me know. Great bass sound. Vocals are decent overall, a few patches in a couple of places that strayed just a little would tighten them up. I dig it, man!

Guitar was done through a Carvin x100B head (EL34 power tubes) w/factory hot-rod (I think on the 50W setting), no pedals except for the wah during the solo. Bill Lawrence p/up (his L500L). Bass was done by plugging into a Line 6 Flextone I and running direct. I used one of the mid-gain amp settings, but I don't know which one, damn.

That Carvin x100B does have a nice sound to it. I think i know where one is for sale too. You don't see too much of cavin stuff up here in the northeast. I just might have to see if it still there and a good price if i am thinking correctly.
