What is the best method of removing the hiss from my four track recordings? I am using a cassette based ecorder on double speed, with DBX noise reduction, however when i mix to digital it always has too much noise in the recordings. I was wondering what i can do to get rid of it? ...... P.S. I have already tried cool edit but it makes my songs sound like poorly encoded mp3s.... any other suggestions are greatly apreciated

thanks

hi there 2lim , well i havent messed with tape before so thankfully im not to acustomed to hiss .. although if the his isnt super bad , u could try a noisegate .. or even increse the signal to noise ratioon recording .. Like i said im not to sure how bad tape hiss can get so im kinda just thinking its not that bad.. Cant you get some plugins that clean up old vinyl recordings .. or even a de-esser .. that kinda eliminates those types of sounds ... well best of luck ...

ssssssssssssssssssss

2Lim,
Make sure you're getting a good hot level,go into the red a little{this works with tape for me}. Make sure your trim and faders are set to optimal{high}level. you can't make hiss go away completely, but you can mask it under a high instrument level. hope this helps.

good luck,CALO
