I'm about to become a recluse for the winter and do nothing but make music but...the problem I have is my monitors which are m-audio bx5's...seemed like a good idea at the time.

However doing some heavy bass type tracks this seems kind of pointless. I'm looking for suggestions on other monitors. I've only had these ones out of the box maybe for 3 days and they've been sitting in the box for almost 5 months or so so i'm thinking of selling them off. What would be some good monitors for around 800-1000 cnd for me?..and anyone interested in some bx5's :)? I think I still have all the books, papers and junk with it, they're in flawless condition.

I think M-Audio make a sub which is intended to mate up with both the -5's and the -8's --- look into it before you punt your lil guys...

I would also suggest looking into a sub. I've heard around a lot of places that to accurately mix for today's soundsystems, you really need to have a sub, not just extended response on your main monitors.

I would also go with a sub. Any monitor that you can buy for 800 - 1000 cdn will still have some bass issues. Maybe you could go with the bx8's, but why not try the sub first to see if it helps. It would certainly save you some money.

ok, I wasnt sure if investing that much money would be wise and using it on a cheaper monitor...though I guess if the bx5's don't suit my needs I could get a bx8 and it will be compatible with the sub....

ok, just looked at the price for it, for some reason I thought it was $1000 us, sub for this is $399, thats not bad. Thanks for the advice, guess i'll grab that sub and see how it goes :)

I would highly recommend you go listen to "Blue SKy" monitor systems. I purchased the "Blue Sky Sytem One" package that is higher then your price range. But the have a Blue Sky Pro Desk package the runs about $1000 that includes two monitors and a Sub. GO to "abluesky.com" and check them out. If you have Sam Ash around you they now carry Blue Sky monitoring systems. I absolutely love mine and they have exceed my expectations, I did listen to the Pro Desk and it was pretty impressive as well. I was in Sam ash one day and heard them and couldn't believe how good they sounded. I just kept going back and eventually bought them.

The Blue Skys are cool, but they are waay more than $1000 Cdn.

$1000 US is about $1200 Canadian, but I've seen the Blue Skys for around $2k here.
