Every time I record vocals on my mic, sooner or later, when I get to a word like "part" or "pan" the mic thumps in the recording. I think it's because these words have lots of air at the beginning. But how do I avoid this?

Oh, by the way, I'm just using the pc mic.

Thanks,

gabriel

Well, you could definitely get better sound using something besides your PC mic, but I guess you already knew that.

Even when using an expensive mic, you will get loud plosives on the hard syllables, if you don't use proper technique with the mic. You should be about 10 inches away from the mic (this might not work so well with the PC mic), and Emeric is right, you realy need to angle yourself when you know a "p" or "b" is coming.

Pop filters can help disperse the air, but if your using your PC mic, then I guess you probably won't be going out and spending any cash on one, so let me suggest stretching a pair of pantyhose over a wire coat-hanger that you have fashioned into a circle.
