I have a MXL 990, and it's been working just fine until 2 days ago, when i was recording a guitar track, it started to make a wind noise like crazy. This problem is not 100% solved yet, and its really annoying because i don't know what to do. (I also have a m-audio preamp) and using adobe audition 3.01

I tested it on a mac, and it worked just fine, which is really weired too. I think it's not the hardware's issue.

I also uploaded a sample mp3 file. You might want to check it out.

Did anybody go through similar situation and can help me??

Thanks

Are you using a grounded power socket?

Have you been feeding it to much beans? This can also cause wind noises.

Sound like you just have the preamp turned up to much.

That one, i turned it to maximum to show the wind noise. I don't remember what it sounded like when i turn it to maximum before this happened...

Yeah, that definitely sounds like preamp noise. Which M-Audio device do you have?

I have m audio usb, but it works just fine on other computers.

Well, this is my laptop (the one that has a problem). This also was fine, but something happened and its killing me. Ive tested on my teacher's imac with same preamp and mic as well as all the cables, and it worked fine.

I bet that you have a PC against your teachers mac ..... right?

yes. windows 7. it turned out that mine's actaully working well now. NO idea how it happened, but thanks for your help!

I think there no any solution to make the sweet sound of the wind chimes ,the reason is that", the small metal pipes may be made of different material so that",they creates the noisy sound , you need to change the material of the wind chime or need to buy other peace
