Just when I'm realling getting into mixing, it all comes back full circle and then some.

Last year I got a midle ear infection which my doctor decided to ignore and told me it would go away. Five months later, I finally was referred to a specialist who put a tube in my ear and fix things up just fine. Well about a month ago, I had the same problem again and went back to the specialist. He put another tube in my ear and cleared stuff right up, but it didn't feel right. Now I wake up today and it's blocked AGAIN!

This most likely, according to the doctor will be a problem I'll suffer with for the rest of my life AND I have had and may endure more PERMANENT HEARING LOSS!!!! WTF!?!?!?

I know this isn't directly associated with recording, but it's certainly going to effect my recordings for the rest of my days. Stick your finger in your ear so that you can barely hear out of it and that's how it's been for me for the past year almost on and off.

Lucky me.

P.S. Sorry, I just had to vent.

I'm no doctor, nor do I play one on TV or in Internet forums, but I have had a teeny experience with this. Do you use headphones a lot? If so, you might want to disinfect your phones to the best of your ability or perhaps even try temporarily replacing them.

I had a pair of phones years ago that I apparently contaminated when using with a simple ear infection. After the infection cleared up I started noticing - it took me a while to connect the dots though - that whenever I used those phones I'd start having an ear infection problem within the next day or two. I got rid of those phones (they were or pretty dubious quality anyway) and those ear problems went away with them.

It's a shot in the dark, but what the heck...

Interesting...

/me is contemplating ways to disinfect his Sennheiser HD600's now.

Interesting indeed. I use headphones only when tracking vocals. Although I don't think this particular time had anything to do with phones, being I haven't done vocals in a few weeks and this happened within a few days of each other, I WILL difinitely try to disinfect them to the best of my ability. That may be why this keeps coming back, who know. It's so hot in my room that sometimes I'll have the phones on for a few hours and they're all sweaty and such and... you may be on to something.

As for what I'll do.... just wait it out I guess and see what happens. I don't want to pick up where I left off mixing my album, cuz who knows how bad it'll sound. I know I wont. HA.

Thanks,
