i record in 48khz/24bit for all of my tracks.

i had a gospel dance group come in.

they wanted to put a 1:30 intro in front of donnie mcclurkin's 'stand'.

i changed my system to 44.1/16 for the session and forgot to change back.

so the next day, i'm trying to re-record some classical guitar stuff for this hip-hop track using my brand new handy dandy shure sm81 microphone.

it took me 2 hours to figure out why my tracks weren't recording loud and seemed to be drifting.

until i realized the drift was also occurring, i was all set to flame the dude i bought the mic from on ebay.

Just curious: Why did you change the bit/sample-rate?

...because he would record Gospel dance group...:D Why do you think ?

:D

He said he was adding an intro to something that was already done,

so he probably ripped the CD tracks into Sonar, and then was forced to work in 16/44.1 so that everything could go back onto CD without extra conversions.

Wham Bam!

Am I close Cross?

yup. that was why.

i wonder if they are going to pay him royalties for the use of his music in a performance... just kidding... a little gospel humor.
