Hi all... my names Mark, I'm 39, and just found this forum.

What I record, is mostly home made creations of guitar and keyboard. I'm trying to create some short things, as a demo to other players / musicians as to what I can do / some idea's I have..ect..

What I record with, is rather random, and totally low budget:

I use an old but darn good windows 98 machine. Hardware is a soundblaster Live Drive which provides a nice stereo input on the front of the machine. It has these mini midi jacks and also spdif-in. I just use the stereo input.

Software, I use Data Becker "Music Center". Its a neat multi tracking program. Simulates a real multi tracking device. Pretty straight forward and easy to use. Lots of functionality I dont even know how to use. Pretty cheap. Got it for like 40 bux in the mid 90's.
Works well. The old windows offers no latency and the live drive has it's own built in stereo preamp which helps boost any unusually low signals, and has a nice set of customizable effects, inluding an envelope filter, chorus, dist, ext....

I sometimes daisy chain a digitech RP350 guitar effects processor for volume control and for a real wide variety of sounds, turning a mundane Optimus MD 1150 keyboard, into something a little more unusual.

I also use guitars I have 2 - again low buget- an Ibanez Gio and a BC rave II.
The ibanez looks like a frank zappa/angus young /woodgrain SG/ type of thing,
and the bc rich looks like Steve vai's red devil guitar in the movie crossroads.
Both sound fair. Nothing like a tele or a les paul. but they get the job done.

My production techniques are just a home brewed mix of what gets the job done with the equipement I have to work with.

Drums are the hardest. I have yet to get a good cheap drum machine, so Im stuck with presets, that are just to monotonous or just uninspiring.

I have another program called acid jazz that lets me build some drum beats. I need that human element these machines cant provide.

I figure I can at least do something on top of these machine beats, and maybe pitch it to a local drummer who's set up to record in another home studio.

I'm located in Rochester, NY. Just a few blocks from the factory that makes Whirlwind cables. Still banging down there door for a job...

So anyways, thats me. Hope you enjoy'd the read..

Send Poeticintensity a PM - He is a drummer for hire. Good rates and even better results. Check my GMP link for samples of what he can do...
