It's not 100% finished. I still need to buy some kind of mounting brackets. I have everything attached to the walls very poorly, but you can see how it looks. I still need to figure out how to mount a few of the panels to the celling... Such a pain in the ass. I'll probably finish it all on Tuesday. Basically I'm done though LOL

I know some of you won't like the punk rock plaid fabric :laughings: but it was the cheapest fabric I could find after going to several stores and still cost me about $65. Due to a miss calculation on my part I ended up with more fabric and wood for frames than I needed. So, I am going to use the left overs to make some nice wooden stands and I have no idea what to do with the left over fabric...

Anyway, this is my little room for recording :D

This is the window facing the neighbors house. I stuffed it with pillows and hung a futon mattress over the window. Hopefully that will muffle it enough not to bother them too much.

Pretty cool dude. Did you consider using rigid fiberglass in your panels? I didn't see any in the pics.

You see the yellow stuff in the layers of wood and cloth? That's Owens Corning 703. I didn't take any pics of the bass traps which are two - 2 inch panels of the OC703 making them 4 inch thick. And I didn't take any pics of the OC703 by itself.

Great stuff man! Congrats on the studio! :D

Thanks man. It was harder work than I thought it would be. My hands feel like they have been weight lifting or something :laughings:

I can hear a real difference of the sound of the room. It's not completely dead, but things sound thicker or something like that. The celling is still a problem I get a real nasty echo when I clap my hands. I'm heading to the hard ware store in the morning to see if I can come up with any ideas to make installing them easier.

Nice work, man. But I've got a tip for you:

leftover plaid fabric = golf pants

For the ceiling in my place I just hung clouds, these were basically frames like your frames, with the top open and I used 25 mm (1") polyester sound deadener. You could do the same with 703 but you will have to cover the top. The reason they are hung from the ceiling (on short chains) and not fixed hard against the ceiling is that the sound is absorbed on both sides.

Check out my site link and look at recording room photos. I did the same type of thing in the control room as well. Made a big difference to the room.

Cheers

Alan.

Or I could sell it to some punk rocker :laughings:

So, it's good to have them dangling from the celling huh?

Did you stuff the baby into the windows too? Humans are fairly dense, absorptive skin bags of water...I'm just sayin'. Your significant other might miss the little tyke though. :D

:laughings:

Yeah, I was gonna bring up the cloud idea. I hung three of em above my mixing station and it does make a nice difference.

You could also take the baby outta the window and duct tape her to the ceiling. It could work. :D

Not duct tape...not strong enough. Staples?

KIDDING. I have four kids...and I would never staple them to anything. Pretty much.

Frank

Ok, I'm done screwing with it. I think it came out nice and sounds great in there now. Even music I listen to sounds way better. Maybe later I'll think of some more fancy crap I can do to set it up better, but for now it's a done deal and I'm tired of Fing with it LOL
