Somewhere in Space
Thought I'd share some pics of my future studio.
This is just the beginning.
I figured I'll post some "before" pics, ... & some "ongoing process" pics, along with "finished" pics, eventually.
A quick little run down on how I acquired this place...
I have a very good friend who happens to own a home, and this building right next door to her home.
It was once used as a Mom & Pop homemade sausage & kielbasa meat processing store. To my knowledge they prepared, and specialized in fresh smoked sausage & kielbasa. There is a big smokehouse stack on the side of the building that is still intact and usable. There are delicatessen freezers, and walk in freezers still in the joint. It also has an old smoke pit in a back room. There is also a lot of water damage that will need fixin'.
My friend is a musician, as well as her daughter who would love to be able to walk next door and jam in a a great acoustical environment, and get a good recording as well. So she decided to give me the green light to go ahead and remodel the place for such. I will have to keep up with the bills, and maintenance as a part of the deal. (which is a pretty sweet deal)
My friend and her husband just rented the dumpster last weekend, and we started to clean the place out.
Anyway,...I have everything I need for the studio production, just not everything needed for the studio construction. It will be a slow process, but that is o.k. because I want to make sure everything will be exact to my specs.
The studio will not be called The Sausage House,..that is just the name it is dubbed for now. So throughout this thread,...it will be referred to "The Sausage House".
My goal is to have the only vintage analog recording studio in the area.
I know I will have to deal with digital transfers as the times and technology have changed, but for the most part, the studio will be furnished with mostly oldschool analog gear, tracking to tape.
I'm not setting this studio up for a business, but more for a place for me and my friends to be able to have a good soundproofed acoustical environment to go and jam / record. If the opportunity arises where It can generate an income to pay it's own bills in the future,...I will surely take full advantage of it.
For the most part, it will be something that I've dreamed of a long time ago,..now becoming a reality. As you all can see,...I have my work cut out for me. There's still some stuff left in there that we gotta get rid of (it already had a little drum kit inside
) and then we will start to scrub the place down for framing.
I will post more as I go along.
I do not have a decent camera,..but you can get the idea.
Here are some "before" pics.
