I Like Rusty Spoons
some people i know wanted to do an acoustic demo (well acoustic guitar and electric bass). i said i'd do it for free this way they could try and give the tape around in order to get shows and make money to record a proper album. anyway..... they recorded a few songs and here's one of them..... it's a cover of "radio" by the alkaline trio. they were happy on how it turned out, which is cool. it wasn't a bad mix (in my opinion anyway, see my equipment listing) but something just didn't feel right about it. i might do this whole little recording for other people thing on a need to record basis and was wondering if there's any tips on improving a mix like this in the future....... www.nowhereradio.com/emopunker/singles

this is what was used to record it:
yamaha mt 400 4 track (used as mixer)
SM 58 on guitar and bass
behringer xm8500 on vocals (i know it's a $20 mic but it works really well, plus it has a cool sound to it in my opinion)
cool edit pro 2.0 for all of the tracking and mixing

It sounds like it needs some eq work. Too heavy in the midrange. Bring the vocals up, they're getting lost behind the guitar.

i agree with the midrange, i thought the vocals were ok but i'll try bringing them up
