Hi all,

Right this is my first recording that I have put online. This was something that I spent 2 hours recording with a friend, so a couple of bits could have been better with a rerecord, but we didnt have time.

Anyway, the song was recorded on a PC with SB Live, through a Studiomaster Desk. The guitar sound was before I got my POD and is a bit fuzzy.

The track is at:

http://student-bdc.wlv.ac.uk/imc/user55/song/

My music will be going on my new website when I have finished registering the domain, but you can get it at that URL for now. :D

By the way, the song is written about a guy on my Uni course called Ziggy - quite a character.

Comments welcome!! :D

Weird. I suppose you need to know the guy huh? It didn't make a whole lot of sense otherwise.

Good guitar sound. Liked the belch at 2:50.

I know you're aware of some execution issues... Some timing issues with the rhythm guit. Some of the drum fills didn't work too well (a bit too elaborate IMO). A few timing problems with the drums too.

The lead vocals are buried a little bit in spots. Most of the "telephone voice" vocals are impossible to make out.

Some pitchiness in the vocals (e.g., at 1:46, 3:11). Some cliping going on here and there, I believe the "telphone voice" is the biggest culprit there.

My thoughts...

I second everything TripleM said.

All instruments sound rather seperated, especially the vocals. Some reverb might help to glue them together. Guitarsound (the riffing one) lacks high end. But you already said it was a bit fuzzy.... ;)

Pretty weird 'song', I might say :)

That kick drum thing is irritating sitting off to the left side.Need some type of verb on the vocals to bring them to life......the guitars and bass guitar(is there a bass guitar?) are really muddy....the whole thing sounds really low fi overall.....maybe double the rhythm guitar to give it more of a spread.

Hi all,

Thanks for some of your comments. :D

This was a first real attempt at a mix, and I was quite chuffed with what I managed to do, but I realise the areas where I need things to be improved.

I think things will be better when I get some decent monitors. A lot of my mixing was done in headphones as I did it late at night - I know this is not a good idea!!

I will be posting some more songs over the coming months. :D
