ok this is my first recording its got some flaws in the playing and editing im sure you will hear and no doubt let me know about but im just curious of what others think about the over all recording. i played all the instruments including accustic drums, guitars, bass, and my sister sang on it. you will find it at nowhere radio under bryan litchford and the name of the song is more love. im not sure how to link you to it from here and for some reason ive been having problems getting it to play but if you have time give it a shot and let me know what ya think.

hey weird, the song was there and I listened to it, no it is not there anymore?

Anyhow what did you use to record it? Vf-80. MR-8? Give us details!

From what I heard eveything sounds pretty clear which is a good start. I would suggest working with your drum tones an overall mix to add more umph to it.

here goes

i recorded on the mr-8 and dumped it onto n-trac i used accustic drums with 4 sm57, 2 condiser mics over head and a beta 52 on the kick i mixed them on a fender 24 channel mixer. i messed up on the snare tone it sounds like poop but sence i recorded them together i couldnt fix it with out effecting the kick drum tone the lead guitar was done on a crappy little crate guitar amp solid state and the accustic was my guild plugged direct. there are mistakes but it was my first shot and i just wanted to get something down im still tweeking on it.

song

sounds pretty good, the beginning seems to be at a much softer volume then the rest of the song. As for the drums i think they sound pretty good, maybe some eqing of the drum parts might help them seperate from the mix a bit..

keep writting and recording, it keeps getting better im told

is this another version, first time i looked there was no song?

same song diferant name

when i was trying to upload it it kept messing up so when i would try it again it wouldnt let me use the same name even though i deleted the first one who knows these things give me a head ache.

bad idea

yes the beginning is at a lower volume it only has one guitar part it was intentional but perhaps a bad idea we live and learn

volume

not a bad thing, i am also at work and dont have a great sound system to listen through.

mp3

this is the first time ive ever converted anything to mp3. boy there is a significant differance in sound quality yuck. did i do something wrong or is that just the way it sounds

It depends on what rate you convert it at, the higher the kbps rate, the better quality the recording but the file is larger.

I liked that a lot. Good singer. I've discovered that there's a limit to the quality of drum recording you can get by mixing multiple mic's into a stereo recorder, and the suggestion of just using a kick mic and two overheads has appeal.

Nice song, nice voice. This shows a lot of promise. I'm looking forward to hearing more of your work.

thanx

hey i appriciate your comments im really enjoying this i think my wife thinks im addicted

Brian;

This is one the nicer covers of this toon that I've heard. I do a kind of a Metal version of it.

Not bad at all for your first endeaver. Keep Rockin for the ROCK!

Blessings!!!

Scourge,
Pretty good for the first shot! Your sister has a really good voice, and you sir seem quite talented! That drumkit actually came through better than I expected, you did a fine job. Like we all try to do, just learn from your mistakes (only you really know where they are) and try to get better with every new recording. Well done.

hey thanks alot

thank you guys for your comments i really had fun recording that. now i am working on some songs that the band i played with wrote. we've got recordings of them but they really sound nasty. the guy who recorded us just kinda rushed us through. it was one of those deals where you pay by the song and not by the hour. this will be much differant, the music is rock (lots of distortion)kinda creadish. if anyone has any suggestions on recording that kind of stuff please lay it on me.

hey thanx axe

thats a cool forum i really appriciate your input
