My First Rap Beat

ok well first i gotta ask a question . . what type/style/genre were you goin for?
to me this sounds like it might be a horrorcore type of beat . . n im not sayin that to "put it down" [i am aware taht some ppl think that such a style is subpar--but not me!!!!]
but as far as the beat it self . . its not bad, its just not easy for me to see how to ....market it . .

i guess . . when i listen to beats, i listen to it for marketability/audience as much as i listen to it for how personally feel about it . . also, keep in mind ... i analyze/critique as the song plays .. not after [just a personal process i guess]

now as far as quality of production ... im not sure that the sounds are really there yet ... the hi hats/claps sound kind a flat but at the same time - they kinda work . . i could really see this as a soundtrack song in a movie - as the monster is in pursuit of the stupid, innocent victim
(lol - there you go!!! marketability!!!)

the strings are intriguing - they compel the listener to keep goin and the "huh" chants are good . .
the image u use up there is hilarious

if i were u .. i would, obviuosly, keep makin beats but also, i would start looking to market the beat to companies that work at placement in movies, etc. hell get in a b-movie or c-movie - $ is $

now plz hit me up with your reviews/responses of my review and let me know your thoughts on the mjusic i got

. feedback appreciated ... ReverbNation Player

hope u like but keep it 100 wit me
thanks

Hey man thanks a lot for ur review! I learnt a lot of things in ur post... Yea Marketability... +1 :D
Actually I intended to make a string beat but it came out more like a horror beat but I'm still satisfied by the results though I kinda messed up with the drums, kicks and the crunks... Yea I sucked at that :/
I'll continue making more beats... this time it will be a Piano one! :P I'll be happy to hear ur opinion about that one as well!

I agree that it sounded like a soundtrack. It was basically all a build up. When I heard the strings intro I was excited but once I learned that the initial beat I heard WAS the whole beat, I was dissappointed. Dramatic beats should have changes. Basically how a scary movie would go, intro>>story build up>>climax>>story come down>>end.

As far as the mixing goes, be careful using youtube. You compress the first time to mp3 then again to youtubes compression. Pretty much kills the dynamics of a already lower dynamic song. Keep working at mixing. There are no rules to follow so trial and error is key.

Good start so far. Keep at it.

So you basically want me to implement the first string through all the song? like at the end?
btw thnx for the guide though.

It was pretty nice for you first beat, like the others said, i thought it was gonna change differently after the intro though, but still pretty nice.
