Armistice

Son of Yoda
Anyone who's been following the "Help a poor aussie find a guitar mic" thread in Microphones forum may be slightly curious to hear what Ausrock and I have been chatting about for a couple of weeks.

Thanks to his MP3-ing skills I now have the tune Sleepless up on Nowhere Radio for your listening and critiquing pleasure.

Interested to hear what everyone thinks.

I think you click on the link and then click Easy Listening in the drop down to find it.

Cheers

Very full sounding acoustic.
You maintained a very convincing meter throughout.
You've got some chops too.
I liked it.
I feel it's not quite finished...................?

Nice tune - moody - draws me into the music.
I think there's too much reverb happening here - at least for my tastes. I'm not one of those guys who likes everything bone dry but I think you have a little too much - you can still capture the feeling you're after without all that washing - give it a shot.

You used your space well for my ears - wide but no loss in any definition.

Title fits the tune - it's what I would like to listen to when I can't sleep! Very nice tune - nice playing - cool concept!

Cool song! I like the crazy reverb on this, it fits. I am getting some distortion not sure where, sounds like digital clipping in the high frequencies.

Yaaaawnn...what was the title again?

Very haunting song.. I like it alot... It kinda puts you in a dreamstate, its hard to explain... Sorrow comes to mind...
very trippy...

Theres some static at 0:41, not sure what it is...

The reverb sounds fine to me, definitely fits the song/mood....

I find myself playing it over and over again, its very catchy.. I think it needs to be longer....

Anyway, excellent job, man....

.:)

Thanks for the comments guys.

I'll admit it's a bit over-reverbed for me too, in hindsight I'd trim it just a little bit - depends on your listening environment too - it was mixed in a really dead room so I probably overdid it a touch to compensate.

The guitar is actually a 20ish year old Takamine straight from pickup to desk - before I discovered microphones (life was soooo much simpler then!)

The title sort of came when I found myself totally unable to sleep at this woman's place where I knew I really shouldn't be and didn't feel real comfortable. Her snoring didn't help! Think I eschewed breakfast in bed and left at 3 in the morning or so and went home. The next time it was just the same. Bad vibes. The tune was already recorded but lacked a title - thought it seemed to fit, although you can call an instrumental anything really, can't you!

Hey jake, if you come back, been meaning to ask you what the hell your avatar is - would make a cool album cover!

Cheers

Great song, mixed well with nice levels... I agree a bit to much reverb. This song screams out for a melody line maybe played on a harp or mandolin. I'm listening to it first thing in the morning (6 am !) and it really fits my mood.

Nice

i like... very ambient.

maybe a tad less reverb, but not too much less... i like the floaty thing.

a different sound. I like this performance and mix. Theres some small things I might alter a bit in it, bt it has a rich aura to it. The bass starts a small rumble in a few places that could be rolled off around 70 hz by a couple db. The melody could come forward a bit. The effects could soften a tad. I heard 3 spots where either it was a digital clip or something happened while you wer burning the cd or mp3.

First listen: Oooh, nice guitar sound and hella chops. I'll have to agree with the "little too much reverb" comments. But it's just a LITTLE too much.

Excellent chord changes. Very original.

Very few faults here, IMO.

Starting to feel like it's repeating a bit. I'm looking for something new to happen about halfway through.

Nice song! Keep posting!

The whole thing is like a 'soundscape' to me, a landscape of sound.

As if I am standing at the edge of a field, and the wind is coming through the field, blowing the grasses, stronger ... and then more gently. And then I begin to walk across the field, the view of my back receeding, and the wind blowing my garments, my hair ... thoughts coming into the mind, and then journeying on ... very dreamy at times, and then becoming more 'aware' ...

It's very beautiful, thanks for sharing.

I was jamming with this on cello, and then viola. I'd love to get the WAV file from you and put some real strings to this.

PM me if you want to collaborate.

The mix is very balanced, very nice.

There's lots of room for counter melodies and harmonies with strings.

There is some distortion or crackling at :
starting at 0:33, and then at 0:41 an obvious one.

Very nice, thanks for sharing.

Pretty nice. Heavy use of reverb, but it was used well I thought. Nice ambience to the song. Pretty too.

Yeah something like a loose cable problem at :41 as someone mentioned. Smaller but similar problems at 2:31 and 2:42.

Cool song.

LET THE DEFLOWERING BEGIN!! :o

Spacey acoustics... nice fingerpicking... would like a different tone on that
lead... something a little hotter & nastier :) Mmm... seems to be a few
encoding problems with your mp3 here... some nasty crackles & such?

Nice flute patch... cool old-world folk thing... Tull(?) maybe? a touch of
jazz for good measure... (the funky chords/flavors around 2:20...)

Nice performance
