Ok this is the first mix i have ever done... i did it like a month ago and at the time i had only just learned what things like 'compression' and 'reverb' were... so yeah im new to this.. but anyway i want you guys to take a listen to it if you can and tell me what you think for my first time and how i could improve it... a few things first though... keep in mind that i mixed these on cheap computer speakers that i bought at radioshack... and i made the vocals too quiet and i need to boost the high freqs on the vox too so ill fix that when i get a chance... but tell me what you think..
feedback appreciated... thanks...

Sounds a bit bass heavy...meaning, it is a bit rumbly in the low end. Distortion. Not real bad, but the speakers are distorting a bit, and they normally can handle quite a bit of bass. Maybe, bring the bass down a little, and the vocals up a bit. No real problems, just a bit convoluted.

yeah i purposely boosted the low freqs a fair bit coz i wanted it to pund pretty hard and on my cheap speakers it sounded fine, but when i tested it on other systems it was too much... ill cut a few dbs at the low end on the beat and boost a few dbs at the high end on the vox and put them up a little bit...
thanks for the input... so you think it is decent for my first mix?

oh and what speakers do you have?

On my pc, a Logitech 5.1 system. It does a fair job at sounding like a better than average car stereo.

Just a little heavy on the bottom end, otherwise not bad. I can't really complain about the heavy bass, I tend to overdo it myself. You might want to bring the vocal up a little bit, just to give it a bit more punch. With a little more experience and a few upgrades of gear you should be turning out some killer tunes.
To hear some of my boomy music, different style but still boomy (but thats the way we play it) go to http://www.lightningmp3.com/live/file.php?fid=783

ok thanks for the advice... im going to invest on some good monitors... BX8s, TR8's, or PS8s... that should better my mixes so that next time i dont drown my tracks in bass...
