My Event PS6 Monitors arrived today!

Hey Everybody,
My PS6 monitors arrived today! I picked them out based on reading this website. I think they're oustanding! I can hear frequencies I never thought audible. Everything sounds completely different. You can really pick out the subtleties.

I might get some gold tip 1/4" connector cables for them...like monster cable ones. The cables I have now arent very good. Do other owners of the PS6's have any advice about them? I haven't touched the volume control on the back of them. They're way to loud so I might have to get a PVC. Right now I have the volume turned way down on my computer to -22dB! Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this message board! It's wonderful and everybody here is always incredibly helpful. Thanks, I'm gonna go mess with them now!

no truthfully I looked at a pair last week and I decied to go with them becaus there better than the m1s but almost compairable to the mackies and remember I said "almost"
congrats...that was a good buy
 
I changed my room around today. I don't know what I did, but the music is sweeter. I can't hear as much bass(probably cos the speaksers at 5 feet from any wall), but it seems that I can feel the performance better and the imaging is also better. All from just changing where the speakers stood.
 
I heard they were better than the M1's also. That's why i chose them. I got mine from MF because originally they had some blemished versions for $467.99 but they all sold out way too quick! I still wound up buying from MF anyway b/c at the time i ordered they were $550.00 w/ FREE shipping.

But of course it wasnt easy...they screwed up my order somehow or another.... 4-5 days after i made the order online i checked my balance and saw they never took the money out of the account...MF can be quite horrible at times. after they had to "manually enter in the order" b/c it never "went through the system" it still took another 2 days before they actually processed the order! and on top of ALL that they sent me the WRONG Ups tracking number. It was very frustrating...

anyway! cyanjaguar, i put mine on the left and right side of my computer screen only a few inches from the wall. i dont think i have enough room to move them elsewhere. but you're definitely right though. im receiving a lot of bass from the close placement to the wall. i'm also not listening at ear level. they're both aimed at me so I'm in the sweet spot.

how do you control the volume? what is it set at on the back? mine look like theyre right in the middle, i think....around -5dB. I'm not sure what I should set it at. I'd like to set it at MAX...but my software is monitoring the wav files WAY below 0dB. I don't think that these monitors are anywhere near being fully optimized. I'd like to get as much accuracy as possible. anyone have any suggestions for setting the volume?

Hey, I got ps5's and I love'em. Did you ever find out what the back of them is supposed to be set at? I am running mackie 1604 to adat lx20 to the events.
 
what are yours set at? Is the MAX setting better than the 0dB? or is that too loud?

the volume on the back controls the input...not the output. I'd really like to be able to crank the volume on my meters in the software up to the normal level. but then I'd have to lower the settings on the back. it's almost the same thing. i'm not sure what to do.

i remember reading about a Passive Volume Control box for this sort of thing. sonusman was telling me to build one for $25-30 at Radio Shack, rather than pay $150 for the Vergence Audio one.
 
mine are set right down the middle. im not sure whether that is the right position though. Im going to test them at different positions to see if I can tweak them a bit. I'll post a reply back to let you know what happens.
 
good, I'm interested to know. Mine are past -5dB...around 0dB. But if I were to go any higher I think it would be too loud.
 
I've lowered mine down close to the -20db level. I was getting too much ->>hiss<<-. This has virtually solved the problem.

I spoke to a guy from Sam Ash today who owned a recording studio. He told me to just lower the monitors way down and turn up all the other levels. He said no frequencies would be lost this way and monitoring would still be accurate.
