Looks like this thing is gonna work after all...

I installed the card, hooked up the breakout box, and when it asked for a driver MAudio was cool enough to put the drivers for all of their models on the CD that came with my Audiophile 2496, which I purchased last year.

I plugged my mic into in #1 in the breakout box, and I saw the mic signal in the MAudio monitor mixer screen.

So I am happy happy!

However..I am still full of questions in my crappy little mind.

1. Should I remove my Audiophile 2496 card for the ofther PCI slot, does it serve any purpose there anymore?

2. Will my Delta 1010 card play back regular music CD's though my speakers, like my Audiophile did? My Audiophile had L/R plugs in the back of the card to do so...Looks like the Delta 1010 only has Spdif in/out plugs in the back of the card.

3. I STILL can't get my Sounds And Audio Devices to show a sound card is installed...Still says "No Audio Device"

4. Are there further installs I am missing here?

5. Is Marvin Gaye?

6. Is George Strait?

Im sooo confused.

Any help would be applied immediately.

Maybe the problem with your sound and audio devices not showing is due to the 2496 card in there? I'd yank it and give that a try.

You plugged a mic directly into the 1010? You need to plug that mic into a preamp first, unless you already are.

I play CD's through my system all the time. I take two 1010 outputs out to my console Aux in's and playback is through my monitors.

I would probably use the latest drivers. I'm using WDM drivers but I think you can download ASIO if I'm not mistaken. Been awhile since I've checked.

I guess you could leave the audiophile in there and sync it to the 1010 via s/pdif. That would give you 10 analog ins/outs, if you need that many

I am having mixed feelings about making this post, but...

It is interesting that you can see the 1010 control panel, see a signal, but not see the 1010 through the OS (i.e., no audio devices). What OS are you using?

There is a particular circumstance where a device has installed but won't show up for MME and DirectSound (that is most Windows apps including its soundmanager). ASIO apps will work fine as will Cakewalk using the WDM/KS driver setting.
Incidentally, the Audiophile uses the same driver and will be afflicted by the same problem.

The driver on the CD is an old one, I would look in the files you unpacked from it and run the deltauninstaller.exe. Restart and install from the delta.inf as usual. Another re-boot to load the control panel.
