Ok,

Recording the drums first. Brilliant me hit Play vice Record. Pretty evident when, at the end of the take, no audio in the tracks.

So, We do it again. This song has some of the most challenging transitions out of any piece we've written. He made one "mistake" out of the whole thing. He missed a snare hit. Big deal, I can edit that in.

Point is, that was a near flawless take! If only the rest of us were as lucky lol!

I'll post up some mp3's when we get to that point. Will probably be voxless as we have not acquired a singer as of yet.

Still, bite me all you one (two at the most) take bastages :D

Drummers are weird. They are the only ones who hit their instraments as hard as they can with sticks.

I hate drummers, mine just broke the band up on Friday night.
I was so close to knocking his block off.

Sean,

I think that has happened to all of us at some point or another.

My drummer is also my cousin. If he quits the band he had better not show up at any family reunions!!!!

lol thats funny.. when i started playing guitar, my cousin decided to start playing drums. but until now he cant play them any good.. doesnt seem to be what he really wants to do..

so, meanwhile i started a band on my own. and after a little number of months, where we just started to write our first good songs, and accomplished our first gig, and i was almost ready for our first recording sessions - he quit. reason: 1 hour from his place to the practice room

now i have to hit the drums myself, which is quite a pain in the ass during the setup (running around between kit and pc like an idiot) - and when i got that right, its impossible for me to get proper takes of the humble drum rhythms i thought of..

i could cry lol

With extremely rare exception - the day a band is formed it is indeed destined to break up. Some last a week and some last years - but they will break-up.

Don't take it personnal and don't kick people out of the family - you simply start (or join) another band.

I really don't get how you could edit in a piece of drumming without there being an obvious blip, unless you picked a spot where the drum was resting. I find it hard to believe you could just tap in a snare. I know nothing though

These are, inherently, the initial scratch recordings. Granted, I am going for the best available, but everything will be re-recorded eventually.

The snare is on it's own sub btw. Properlay gated and compressed on the instert. Unless he hits the snare, there's nothing on that track. Zooming way in and copying a hit from a point in the song where all he does is hit the snare on 2 in a four beat measure gave me a good snare hit to copy & paste.

i hate drummers, they can't stay on beat, they are worthless, uhh I really hate drummers.

Be smart, use reason for drums :)

Can't wait till we have enough songs to gig. Going to be bringing my computer as my drummer! oh yea.

Hmmm, whilst I appreciate your sentiments, truth is you just can't beat(no pun intended) having a real live drummer on stage at gigs. Definitely something missing if he/she's not there.

Reminds me of all those horrible synthesiser based bands in the 1980's like Depeche Mode, yuk! Music really lost its way then, but fortunately guitars made a good comeback in the 90's. A friend of mine had the misfortune to see them live - boring as hell he said. A drummer adds something to a live show.

I have seen two ace drummers live recently, David Bowie's and Paul McCartney's (sorry don't know names).

Even if you guys leap about the stage in an animated fashion it will still look a little strange in my opinion with no drummer behind you, but maybe I'm old fashioned. (In fact I AM old fashioned!!)

it must indeed look like something (very needed) is missing..

and kinda reminds me of busted °pukes° (sorry lol :D)
