I have been trying to come up with the best possible solution to complete my home studio. My goal is to use my PC (which I am building) as the recording medium. I want 16 tracks at once.

I was thinking of using my ADAT that I have now and get a soundcard that has 8 1/4" inputs as well as an 8-Channel Lightpipe. Would this give me 16 tracks at once? What about having 16 outputs to go to my analog mixing board? I would really love to have this all come together right!

Here's what I have:

Yamaha 16 channel mixer (analog)
Behringer Euro-Rack 12 channel mixer (mainly for monitor mix)
(1)Alesis ADAT LX20
PC (Pentium 4, 512 MB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive)
various rack gear (2 compressors, harmonizer, DSP effects...)

Any help?!?!?!?

I've been looking into MOTU stuff. I was thinking about even getting the 24 I/O and just mixing with both boards! Any help here?

Tascam FW-1884.....Digi002. I'm looking pretty heavy at the Tascam. Waiting for the bugs to go and the price to come down.

looks good...

I would add more RAM. Max it out. Shoot for a gig of RAM. Also a second hard drive. I would use you 160 gig hard drive for audio only, and a 40-60 gig hard drive for audio applications, OS, driver, etc...
