my 788 doesn't turn on!!!!!... HELP!!!

my 788 doesn't turn on!!!!!... HELP!!!... "hangs" on startup

when i turn on the 788 i get the "tascam" logo... then instead of the serching for hard drive and everything i get a frozen screen with dots on it, also the lights on the panel are kept on. (it happened today, I didn't do anything unusual, just turned it on)

WHAT COULD THIS BE!??!?!
PLEASE HELP

i disconected the hard drive and nothing happened...
if it's the firmware, then what???, everything is lost????, is there any way of reseting the firmware???
i had version 2.02 and my tascam is about 2 months old.

Make sure the eprom chip is in there good and tight. If that's not it, call, don't email customer service first thing on Monday.

could this been caused by an electrical charge or something?

I remember once in the Tascam forum somebody had a similar situation and it turned out to be the remote switch plugged into the headphone jack......or the other way around, I forget.

Anyway, unplug everything except power and turn it on and see what happens.
