... anyone know about this microphone? Is it a step up from the v67?

You know, Ive been asking this vary question... Things Ive seen written around the various mic postings is that the V63M is the same as the MXL2003. I looked at Mars Music and its "Special Mars Exclusive thingie" The V63M has a 1" dia, 6 micron diaphragm, tranformerless output. The 2003 has a 1.06" 3 microndiaphragm and low cut switch. Both have FET preamps, single diaphragm, cardioid and a black finish.
I ordered a v63m and should get it on wednesday, after a brief overview and inspection of the mic and its propaganda material I will attempt to enlighten the curious. Until then...

Peace,
Dennis

Atomictoyz--From what I have read the V-93 is the same as the 2003. As for the V-93 being a "step up" from the V67, I think a better analogy would be that it is a different direction. Both are very fine mics, but they sound different. I have a V-93, but I also want a V67 because I love the way it sounds on my voice.

I'm still not sure where the V-63 falls in regard to the other MXL mics. Would love to hear your impressions when you get one!

I get the impression the 67 is a good mic on the voice, while the 93 is a little more transparent, and therefore more versatile -- probably nicer on things like drum overhead and accoustic guitar.
