so im looking for a mic with a warming sound and i was looking at the V67i, and that it has a bright and warm switch, that got me eye... then looking around i found a Mxl v87, would cost me about £20 more v67i is priced at £150, which is on sale...

I currently have the Blue bluebird and its rather bright.. not really what i was expecting but hey ho!

i am male.. and i dont have a 'High Voice' but its not that low..

i also record rap vocals with some singing

Unless i'm missing something, and that's entirely possible, the V87 and V67i on "warm" have exactly the frequency response (then again, it's hard to judge completely by their website as the image is tiny) and very, very similar specs in general.....

If you want warmish, or at least less bright, mic's in the same price range as the MXL's you've mentioned, i'd say have a look at the sEZ3300a for £199 or the Avantone CK6 for £149. Or, if you can find one on evilbay, the original Matt Grey Rode NT1 (not the newer NT1a). They seem to go for around £80 - £120 depending on condition and accessories.

Alternatively, you could try the bigger boy dynamic mics like the SM7b and EV RE20 but they're both in the £300 range

That's a fairly low budget, especially considering how much you spent on Waves plugs.
Maybe you could up the budget and open up your choices a bit?

to be honest my tutor gave me the waves plug-ins, as im study music technology at college

Yawn all you want. I think you'll find piracy is frowned upon around here.

SM7B, RE-20/27, PR40... Probably all "used" prices, but any one of those would be a nice place to go.

So they should be good for vocals! ;)

An SM7B was used on Thriller, and that album seems to have had a good reception :D

It shouldn't really matter if the mic was designed with the intention of being used as a podcasting mic if you can use it in a way that suits you.

If budget is a real problem try a 58. You might be surprised.
And if you can't get a pretty darn usable sound from a 58, your problem likely isn't the mic...

Man, people really do seem to love warm sound recently in this forum!
