it needs more cowbell....
I got an MXL v67n which is an 603/604 type mic with a transformer based circuit. After a couple months with it, I gotta say - anyone looking at 603/604 mics may want to consider a v67n instead. The circuit really evens out the frequency response in the high end. I now understand why they named it with the "v67" title. The V67g is the mellow brother to the 2006 and now the MXL v67n is the mellow brother to the 603/604 mics. It's a great mic at it's price point. The only thing I would warn about is that is has a lot of tiny surface mount components, so there's not as much you can mod if you wanted to. Still, it's got 2 electrolytic caps, 1 film cap, 1 ceramic cap, a couple resistors, and the transformer (of course). Anyways having also bought and modded a set of 603s (actually they're Apex 185s, but its the same capsule and circuit), I still prefer the v67n. Has anyone else tried these out?
