Spread the Daf!
Musicians' Friend has them for supercheap and since I'm superbroke; that appeals to me. So I'm just wondering if it has any value at all.

Don't know Lt.! Just responding to this post simply because no one else gave you the time of day and didn't want you to feel left out!
But I'll tell you this; I own the MXL C1006 which I bought 'bout 2 years ago @ $59 new. Decent response of acoustical instruments,
'specially guitar. Acceptable for voc work suitable for tenors but
hi-end freqs could use a lil cut in alto/soprano range. Suitable for
amp-micing in jazz & blues git work where hi-end efx such as distortion & the like is not used.
Point being Marshall mics will provide ample satisfaction in certain applications and at the right price makes for a decent addition to one's mic arsenal.

Q!!

It's like 4:30AM and you should be asleep

so should I rrr..umm.

Bob- Did you search on that? I'm quite sure it's been discussed to DEATH in this forum by now.

H2H

Lt., if they be anywhere as good as the v67, get one. But then, whatever you used on the christmas tunz sounded super. But I really like the v67 for my vox and my Martin, and I just have an art mp for a pre.

(slaps forehead) DOH!!!
Of course, can't imagine why I didn't think of that. Thanks.

i have the v93 ........which is probably a decent comparison, because i think it is just the next step up..........i like it.......i'm sure the 63 is pretty decent.........not amazing..........the v93 has great clarity, but isn't really a 'warm' mic if you know what i mean.....i'd expect the same out of the 63

At that price, I would highly recommend the Studio Projects B1. Can't believe I'm saying this.

Hi Lt Bob!

I have the V67M wich I like alot the V63 I have not tryed but ther have been several threads on the whole Marshal line at the beginning of this year.

I know Harvey reviewed several of them in one thread.

From what I remember the consensus was not so great on the V63 and the 2001. The V67 and the 2003 were rated much higher for their price point.

I'm sure if you do a search you will find lots of opinions to sort through.

I've got both a V67 and a pair of V63's - they were cheap, so I bought a pair of them for extra room mics, remote recording, or whatever... The downside is that they have a really pronounced high end "coloration" and can get a little spitty on vocals (a lot like an AKG C3000) - and they sound just the slightest bit "tinny" by comparison to the V67. Basically, they're nowhere near the mic that the V67 is.

On the upside, they're not THAT bad. Especially for the price. If you're stepping up from recording with cheap dynamics, you'll be really impressed with it. And, for the money, I'd say that they sound no worse to me than the MXL 2001 or the Nady stuff or the Behringer or... Or, just about any of the sub-$200 mics.

So, yeah, I can safely recommend them to you, as long as you're not expecting the world from a $70 microphone. They've already survived plenty of rough handling, look good, sound good... Again, if you want to sit around and compare it to other, more expensive mics, you'll be able to pick out all of the shortcomings of the mic. But, if this is your first LD condensor, it'll knock your socks off.

Yeah, let me retract my entire statement - I had no idea you could get the V67 that cheap. Find the extra ten bucks and get the V67, skip the V63. V67 is a great mic that I recommend without hesitation. I like it as much, or better, than anything else under $500.

Well that's a no-brainer; 67 it is. I'll let you know how it is. Thanks

Note: that is the MXL-V67B for $89.99 and not the gold MXL-V67G which is $199.99 that Samash is selling. Plus, you should seriously consider a shockmount mic holder.

Just close your eyes and imagine it's green and gold - it will sound the same.

The V63M is a rebadged 1006. The V67B and V67G is the same mic, different colors. Harvey Gerst is on the verge(not as soon as you think) of broadcasting his review of a whole slew of the mxl and studio project mics. I saw at Harvey's PSW forum a thread on the mxl rebade game. Since the 67b is the same as the 67g, why pay so much for the colors? I would like to see Harvey's review of the B series as well as whats up with that 990 mxl.

Thats what I get for leaving town for a week......Lt., if you havent gotten the v67 yet, its a great mic....if ya need to try one out before you buy it, gimme a holler....

Way cool, I'm looking forward to reading the review.
