MXL UR-1 ribbon USB mic

This thing is so expensive for an MXL mic that no one seems to have actually tried it out. $499 at B&H or Amazon. I won an auction on ebay tonight for $75, which seems more reasonable. It has a built in pre-amp that is billed as low noise and a headphone jack for low latency monitoring. It looks sort of fruity - like a gold plated RCA 77. Anyone have an opinion?

Oh wow, I only just found out this thing exists. Sounds like an interesting idea, let us know how it sounds!

I looked at the online manual (it will be a few days before the mic is delivered). It has a gain control. That and the headphone jack seem to deal with two of the major issues of usb mics.
