there hasn't been too much talk of these on here. they've got a pair for $199 at musicians friend right now. weird thing is that a single 993 is $149... but if you get the 990/993 package it is $149 as well.
anyway i've been working tons of overtime and just got about $200 extra so these seem like a good choice. i wanted to try some out but guitar center is still carrying 603s (also $99 each)

everythign i've read seems pretty positive. any negative comments?

They're not the end all, beat all....but I used to use one exclusively on my acoustic before I stepped up. Not bad bang for the buck. Also, not a bad addition if you don't already have any of that style in your mic locker.
