i trust your expert opinions thanks everyone!

My friend and I used a pair of 993's about two weeks ago to record a couple of acoustic tracks. Turned out excellent. We also used the 993's for drum overhead mics and had no complaints.

Anybody used the 991 or 993 on vocals. Or I guess even the 990. Which one sounded the best?

Somebody said at there local guitar center they were selling the 990 and 991 package for $50! If the 991 sounds good on vocals then I might go in to the local one around here and tell them that I knoe a different GC has these mics for half the price and I will only buy if I get a prcie close to that. For 50 bucks I would buy two! Do you think this would work? What price should I ask for If I say I will buy two? Also still what do people think the best of the three mics (990, 991, 993) is the best for vocals?

My local GC has them at $99 for the set, but I swear when they first got them in, they were $69. I should have bought then!

Anyway, they're having some big weekend sale, maybe they'll have a lower price. I always say "what's the best you could do on a pair of these (or whatever I'm looking at)?" then when he says "I can go $80", I say, "Hmmm, I really didn't want to spend over $125 for a pair..."

They have a good deal of flexibility, and a lot of times, they'll throw in some other stuff (cables, stands, that sort of thing) if you ask.

I bought the 990, 991 set, and it also came with a 2001. I tried the 990 on voclas and I hated the sound, so I use the 2001, which I think sounds great.
