Taking the slow road
i have one that's 5 oz. and silver green

i have another that's 3 oz. and silver gray

i WAS about to pair them up x/y when i felt that one was warm and one was cold. Is one plastic and one metal?

a light tap on the shaft while unplugged also appears to sound a 5th or an octave apart.

obviously not going to be matched, but are they even the same mic?

anyone from MXL on the board available to answer the design and manufacturing differences?

this is a good question, as far as I'm concerned, as I'm about to have a little look on ebay for these beautiful looking mics....I wonder if they sound as hot as they look!!....prolly not.

Sounds like you got a Chinese fake. Where'd you get them?

As for buying one, get a Studio Project B1 instead. Much better, rounder sounding mic.

Call Phil at MXL tomorrow and ask him. Their number is (800) 800-6608. Phil's extension is 112. Very strange.

Ok, I'll ask.

I'm about to use it now. not sure if i did yet. got them all thru Guitar Center.

(yea Rick, i have a b3 also...so what? these are sdc's that's an ldc...)

i'm looking around, i see 4 991's at the moment, I think i got them all in the 2-packs w/ 990's so i probly have 4 of those also. haven't compared them yet.

One of them is bound to be better for rap harpsicord than the other.

Very nice looking, yes. A bit expensive.
You get what you pay for.
