MXL 9000 Possible Replacement Tubes

Hello,
I am going to buy the MXL 9000 as it's on sale for $150 at MF; it'll be my first condenser mic. I have never modded anything before but from what I can tell it should be fairly simple and helpful in sound quality to replace the tube. What should I replace it with? Would a GrooveTubes 5751 or 12at7 be a good replacement, and could someone give me a link or simple instructions or guidelines for how to replace the tube? It would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
 
Hey Luke ..... take a look at the *Free adds for music/recording gear* here at HR there is a thread started by MASK who sells NOS tubes and would be able to tell you what is what.

Hopefully the tube in the 9000 isn't wired permanently and can be easily removed.
