So I just purchased a MXL 770 Condenser Mic and i want to use it to record vocals.
I was advised by someone to buy a preamp so that i could power the mic with the phantom power and then route to my computer.

I bought the ART Tube MP USB Project Series Tube Mic Preamp With USB.
So with an XLR cable I am running the mic into the Preamp and then the USB output to the computer but I'm getting nada!

What am I doing wrong? What should I do? Do I need to purchase something else? Where am i going wrong?

Thank you in advance -

New to the game and willing to learn! :)

You'll need drivers for the Art, and recording software in which to select the Art.

Tell us what OS and software you're using, and exactly what you have tried.

Turn the gain up full and gently tap the body of the mic.
If the peak/clip led illuminates, then you know you're getting a signal into the preamp at least.

The OS I'm currently using is WinVista (I'm working on getting a new laptop ect so that I can update EVERYTHING) and the program I bought to use is MAGIX Music Maker 2013 and of course the normal computer video recorder with the web cam (I believe from cannon?!?!).

Take a look at Reaper as your recording program. Reaper is a free down load and if you like it it will cost you $60. and if you don't like it you don't have to purchase it.
LQQK HERE :thumbs up:
